The wait is over. Rising R&B sensations The Hightails have released several projects following their their debut mixtape, "Sweet Cheetah Music: The Introduction," a project poised to shake up the music scene and cement their place as a force to be reckoned with in modern R&B.
All of the rumors were true, as the initial project was the first of several mixtapes projects under the "Sweet Cheetah Music" title. Starting in November of 2024, new projects have been released by The Hightails, with multiple projects tentatively scheduled for release throughout 2025.
So far, all of the mixtapes feature tracks that blend classic R&B influences with a modern twist, showcasing the group’s unique sound and versatility. Subtle infusions of hip-hop, rap, Afrobeat, trap and drill also showcase the lyricism of the group's rappers.
Produced by ID Swagger, the mixtapes delve into themes of love, heartbreak, self-discovery, and resilience - along with tracks solely meant for the cheetah's favorite scene - the nightlife parties. The group of four singing cheetahs from the westside of the Serengeti caught the attention of DION Creative Agency in early 2024, and a group of producers, songwriters, and music engineers have been working with the group to develop their sound, and ultimately give birth to unique music projects to share with the masses.
The group has earned praise for their dynamic vocal abilities and anomalous sound that bridges the gap between classic R&B and today’s innovative music landscape. With these mixtapes, they aim to inspire a new generation of R&B fans while paying homage to the genre’s roots.
To flex their versatility, it is rumored that future volumes of the Sweet Cheetah Music mixtapes may have musical genre themes, such as dance, funk, soul, rock and even country.
